Do you want this to work? How many times have you caught yourself putting in so much effort to make something happen – something you really, REALLY, wanted at one point – only to find you’re unhappy?

Today we’re talking about how sometimes we can fall out of alignment with what we once wanted, for many different reasons, and how important it is to recognise and honour yourself with where you’re at today. That means, just because you started something, doesn’t mean you have to finish it.

It also means that sometimes we come up with the best plans for ourselves and then we just can’t seem to follow through. Maybe it’s a weight loss goal, a healthier mindset, or business plan we’re wanting to implement. If you’re finding yourself stuck in a pattern of wanting something but not making it happen, it might be time to ask yourself, “Do I even want this to work?”

Now, we’re going to talk about what that means and looks like, as well as what it means to actually want it. After all, just because it sounds great, doesn’t mean it’s right for you in this moment.

Perhaps it is. Or perhaps the next moment is your moment. You have to be ready for the change, and willing to do the work it takes. And convincing yourself you are when you’re really not, sets you up for a massive let down. So, how can you get this right? Lisa’s sharing all her strategies and thoughts on this today!

So, let’s dive right in!

Are you happy?

This may seem like a broad question, but it’s a crucial one. Lisa talks about having a lifestyle lovestory in this episode – when you become in love with your life, how you interact with others, how you live every aspect of your life, and can truly be yourself.

If you’re not happy in every area of your life, here’s the good news: You have the power to change it!

In fact, you’re the only one who does. It may seem like the right question to ask yourself now is, “how?”, but the reality is, you have to start with something more basic than that.

Do you want this to work?

This is the question you need to ask now. Just because you’ve identified that something isn’t working in your life, doesn’t mean you’re ready for it to be working.

It’s time to get really honest with yourself, on many levels because there are a whole lot of reasons why you might not be ready for things to change.

Are you comfortably miserable?

This is a difficult question to ask yourself, but the truth is, many of us become comfortable in our discomfort. We may wish for better things, but because we’ve spent so long in this comfort zone right here, we’re actually not willing or ready for any change.

And that means that when push comes to shove, we’ll sabotage ourselves so we don’t reach the goal. All that energy we put in to creating change is matched with an even greater amount of energy to ensure we don’t succeed.

The truth is, wherever you’re at is right where you’re supposed to be, so instead of wasting all that energy fighting yourself, use it instead to understand yourself.

Alignment

You may find you’re uncomfortable in your unhappiness and are indeed ready to make changes. In fact, you might find you’ve been working long and hard to achieve this change, to make it work, to no avail.

Is it possible that what you once thought you wanted is no longer be in alignment with who you are or what you want now?

It’s hard to let go when this happens, especially if you’ve been working so hard for so long for this “thing” to come together. But rest assured, reaching that goal when you’re no longer in tune with it, will not bring you the sense of accomplishment you’re expecting.

How can you tell if you’re still in alignment?

The reality is, there are many clues all around you that indicate whether or not you’re in alignment with what you’re striving for.

First, is the spark still there? If you’re going through the motions due to habits you’ve formed in pursuit of this goal, without any passion, then it’s possible you don’t want this to work.

You’re behaviours are another glimpse into whether or not you truly want this to work, whatever “this” may be. How do you react toward others who are living their bliss, finding success, or struggling? Do you compare yourself with them? Is it difficult for you to be happy for them when they succeed or are happy?

Our actions and reactions are indicative of our perception of life and our place in it. If you struggle to be happy for other’s successes, then you may find you’re not very happy yourself.

What if you don’t want to?

If you’ve realised your actions don’t match with what you say you want, Lisa has some tips for you.

She recommends you pay attention to the conversation you have with yourself. What are you saying to yourself? Many secrets can be unravelled by paying attention to your own conversation.

Be gentle with yourself. This isn’t a race. Everyone is right where they should be, so if you’re not ready for change, then honour that. And if you are, well step up to the plate and honour that too – but do it in a way that is kind and loving towards yourself.
