Meet Kate Blake
Focusing on mindset and business, Kate helps her clients from feeling stuck in a rut and at a crossroads, into creating new career opportunities and businesses, and a healthy mindset to help them succeed in creating the lives they desire.
Kate knows all too well what it’s like to be at a crossroads in life, from being adopted, having low self-esteem, sexual abuse and loss. She turned her life around to create a positive surrounding for her children and herself. And she’s sharing her story with us today on how she did it, including tips for you to do the same, no matter what crossroads in life you’re facing.
So, let’s dive right in!
When at a Crossroads, Look Within
Are you getting what you want out of life? Are you happy? Does your life look the way you want it to? If your answer is no for any of these questions, then it’s time to go within for you have the power to change it.
Kate’s first tip for dealing with a crossroads in life is to get clear about how you want your life to look. That’s the only way you’re going to be able to make the choice that’s best for you. Comparing where you are to where you want to be is an age-old coaching tool that we all use, because it works!
So, before you make any decisions about the crossroads you face, go within and ask yourself the deep questions.
Take the First Step
We all know the expression about the first step being the hardest. That’s because it’s true! First steps often require having the most faith in ourselves, and can even feel like they carry the most weight.
But sometimes the first step isn’t as giant as we first think. Take becoming an entrepreneur, for example. Your first step does NOT have to be quitting your job to start your business. In fact, there are so many other little steps involved in this process, that quitting your job is one of the last things you’ll do. And by the time you do it, you’ll have gained so much momentum and faith in yourself and your own abilities, that it won’t be the huge risk you currently think it will be.
Kate’s first step in her crossroads was to go back to school. Yours may be getting a coach! While it’s scary to make an investment in yourself, it’s necessary. Whatever that investment is, if you can’t make it, you can’t expect anything to change.
Get Help with Your Crossroads
You are not alone in this. Your experience, and even your crossroads may feel unique, but I guarantee there are so many others who have faced something similar. That doesn’t mean their crossroads in life looked just like yours, but that they will resonate with the dilemma you’re facing, the fear it’s raising, and the weight of the decisions you’re making.
Who you reach out to doesn’t matter, as long as it feels right. After all, reaching out is as much about knowing you’re supported as it is about brainstorming. Often, when we talk about something aloud, we draw our own conclusions and solve the puzzle all by ourselves.
Kate recommends talking about your crossroads with friends, family, a therapist, or a coach.
More from this episode
Kate talks about so much more in this episode, such as what it was like growing up knowing she was adopted, being raped at age 16 while on holiday with her family, her struggles at school, and her book, “I will if you won’t let me!” Of course, because Kate does briefly speak about her rape, some listeners may find segments of this episode triggering.
